Plastic free Schools

Plastic Free Schools is a programme ran by the marine conservation charity Surfers Against Sewage (SAS). SAS work with communities to protect oceans, waves, beaches and marine life from increasingly more present plastic pollution. SAS was created in 1990 by a group of Cornish surfers from the villages of St Agnes and Porthtowan on the north coast of Cornwall.

The Plastic Free Schools programme aims to help students understand the issues of plastic consumption and take action. We will be reviewing the use of single use plastic within school and looking at more sustainable alternatives, along with challenging our government and the industry's biggest plastic litter contributors.

How can you help at home?

There are many steps you can do at home to reduce your use of single use plastic, such as:

  • Use reusable water bottles
  • Always take your own reusable bag when shopping
  • Buy loose fruit and vegetables wherever possible
  • Utilise local zero-waste shops, here are a few:
  • Just Footprints, Chester - https://justfootprintsltd.co.uk/

Weigh of the World, Northwich - https://www.weighoftheworld.co.uk/

Powered By Plants, Warrington -  https://powered-by-plants.co.uk/
